Run DUELS in 2022 | Executive insights on how it works

With the first DUELS AGM around the corner, we wanted to give prospective 2022 Electives some insight into what running a DUSA club actually looks like.



DUELS is coming up to the end of it's first year as a DUSA club and it's time to vote in a new team of Executives!


There are three Executive positions to run for at our AGM:


  • President The president is responsible for overseeing all club operations and making the final call on team decisions. They usually chair meetings and come up with ideas and agendas for the club.

  • Secretary The secretary is accountable for maintaining the member register and keeping up-to-date records of meeting minutes and agendas.

  • Treasurer The treasurer is in charge of keeping financial records, co-signing event and expense forms with the president and applying for grants and funding for the club.


Keep in mind that while we all have our specific responsibilities at DUELS, we've been a cohesive team that works together to make decisions and get things done. For example, being the Treasurer comes along with many more opportunities than just managing the club's books, if that's what you want!


Other opportunities that are distributed between executives include:

  • Social media and marketing

  • Project and event management

  • Merchandising and promotions

  • Running competitions

  • Website management

  • Networking and collaborations

  • Blog writing

  • Sending regular email campaigns

  • Liaising with DUSA staff

  • Creating workshops

We'll be running through the club's performance, financial position, and events summary before moving onto electing our 2022 Club Executives.

If you've ever wanted to get more involved with the Deakin community, running a club is a great and fun way to do it! We're now accepting nominations for:

  • 2022 President

  • 2022 Secretary

  • 2022 Treasurer

Watch this space! 👀 If you can't make the Zoom meeting live and wish to apply for a DUELS 2022 Executive position, please submit your nomination form alongside a 1-2 minute video stating why you want the position and your vision for DUELS. This will be played on the night for attendees to help them decide who they're voting for. For the Cloudies - DUELS is DUSA's first entirely online club.
